Westlake Royal helps Rescuing Families with home upgrades

Sep 02, 2023

Westlake Royal Building Products USA Inc. is partnering with Rescuing Families Inc., a nonprofit organization, by donating siding and trim for its latest project.

Rescuing Families renovates homes for those who have family members with disabilities, making the homes more accessible, repairing damage and upgrading items within the home.

"We tried to make it as maintenance-free as a house can be for them. That way moving forward, after we leave, they're not going to have any problems," said Gina Centauro, co-founder of Rescuing Families.

The PVC siding donated was Westlake Royal's Foundry-brand, 7-inch split-shake in golden straw color. The white trim includes Rabbeted PVC corners, starter strip, window trim sill and trim board.

Westlake Royal supported Rescuing Families on its first renovation when the charity originally opened. Once Westlake Royal learned about the new project Rescuing Families was working on, it jumped on board.

"It's one of the things we're always looking to give back to the community where we can. It seems like a great, worthwhile project to be able to support," said Steve Booz, vice president of marketing.

Rescuing Families is recording a documentary series that has been in the process over the last four years. The series will focus on families who have members with disabilities and the situations with which they are faced. There will also be segments explaining how to make a house handicap-accessible.

The series, Family to the Rescue, is expected to air in late fall or early winter on PBS. Work is currently wrapping up on the last episode, covering the house renovations to which Westlake Royal donated.

Rescuing Families chose to work with Westlake Royal due to the quality of its products.

"One of the biggest things with our rescues — and what we do for the families — is give them products that we think we know are going to last a lifetime for them," said Vinny Centauro, co-founder of Rescuing Families. "We felt like the quality from Westlake would achieve what we were looking for the families."

Westlake is currently ranked No. 3 in Plastics News' North America ranking for pipe, profile and tubing extruders.
